The Community Engagement Program's Reach, Relevance & Dissemination (RR&D) Committee Chair, Dean Schillinger, MD, is featured in this newsletter hot off the virtual press about the Health Forum co-hosted by RR&D and the Center for Immigrant and Refugee Community Literacy Education (CIRCLE) at San Francisco State University on June 1, 2007.
As a result of the Forum, New America Media (an ethic media clearinghouse and advocacy group that participated in the Forum) applied for and received a planning grant through the Atlantic Foundation to work with RR&D/CTSI, SFSU, and with advocacy groups for seniors (e.g. AARP) to develop an ethnic seniors health media outreach project. RR&D hopes to demonstrate local feasibility and then take this outreach model to more regional and national levels. More updates are forthcoming as this project progresses.
