Faculty Director Recruitment Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The Participant Recruitment Program (PRP) is recruiting for a new faculty director. Please consult the detailed job listing for more details.  Additionally, we have received some clarifying questions from interested applicants about the role, and the answers to these questions are provided below.

General Questions

  • How much of the Director's time will be expected to be spent attending CTSI operational meetings? What is the cadence of those meetings?

CTSI holds monthly 1.5 hour Leadership Council meetings which include a faculty and staff representative from each program. Program operational meetings are set by each program team, but programs typically meet 1-2 hours per week.

  • What level of responsibility does this position have for report writing, annual advisory meeting prep, and grant renewal writing segments?

Our annual progress report to NCATS is typically drafted by program staff and final review/edits are completed by the director. Other report-outs (such as ad hoc presentations to our stakeholders, advisory meeting prep, etc.) are typically done together with the Senior Program Manager.  For the grant renewal, each faculty program lead will be responsible for sections of the grant relevant to their programs.

  • Where is the CTSI in the renewal cycle?

We are at the start of year three of a five year renewal cycle.

  • I don’t have experience with EHR Recruitment or social media recruitment, two services that PRP provides, but am interested in the position. Could I still be considered for this role?

    Yes.

  • I've noticed that the position is hybrid. Can you please let me know what the expectations are for on-campus versus hybrid?  I was wondering if the weekly meetings were on Zoom? What are the expectations/timings for in-person meetings?

Recurring meetings are held on Zoom. Occasionally (approximately 1-2 times per year) there may be in-person meetings or events.

  • I would like to understand the extent to which the PRP is interested in or has developed resources around more community-based or grassroots recruitment strategies, including (but not limited to) building relationships with local community clinics or CBOs for the purposes of recruiting?

PRP works closely with two other programs housed at CTSI: Community Engagement and Research Action Group for Equity (RAGE) who specialize in this type of engagement. We often work together with these programs and/or refer study teams to have consultations with these groups. That said, we would be open to exploring ways to support study teams with initiatives that are complementary to what CE and RAGE provide.
