Biospecimen Custodianship and Storage
The Biospecimen Processing Lab offers comprehensive, flexible storage solutions.
Short-term sample storage: Samples are stored on-site at the BSPL where they are processed, allowing for immediate and flexible access by our lab team. This option is ideal for samples requiring quick turnaround or near-term distribution. Short-term storage is charged per sample, per month.
Long-term sample storage: Samples designated for long-term storage are transferred to the Mt. Zion Freezer Farm and retained for an extended period measured in years. Transfer to long-term storage is at the request of the investigator. Access to these samples is managed through iLab; distribution may take up to one month depending on lab team availability. Long-term storage is charged per box, per month.
Oyster Point Freezer Farm: Investigators with their own -80°C freezer or LN2 unit and intend to keep it stored for an ultra-long time without day-to-day access, can sign up for the waiting list and move their freezer to this monitored facility as space becomes available. Oyster Point space is charged per freezer, per month.
