Dr. Kim is professor of neurology and the Erich Fried Endowed Professor of Vascular Neuroscience at UCSF. He leads ongoing quality improvement and clinical innovation efforts as medical director of the UCSF Comprehensive Stroke Center. He treats both inpatients and outpatients with a variety of cerebrovascular disorders including stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and TIA. Dr. Kim’s research is focused on developing cost-effective approaches to improve the diagnosis, management, and prevention of cerebrovascular disease. His work employs both established methods of epidemiology, outcomes research, and economic modeling as well as emerging approaches such as the use of mobile and internet technologies in order to address key challenges in the development, evaluation, dissemination, and implementation of evidence-based care for patients with cerebrovascular disease. Dr. Kim holds dual undergraduate degrees from Brown University and a medical degree from UCSF. He completed his clinical training including medicine internship, neurology residency, and vascular neurology fellowship at UCSF as well. He also holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Research from the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and is Director of Consultation Services for the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).
