UCSF Launches Online HUB for Clinical Research

Working in collaboration with Bill Balke, MD, director of CTSI’s Clinical Research Services program, UCSF has launched a Clinical Research Resource HUB for investigators, staff, University partners/affiliates, and study participants that includes a wide-range of essential resources and services.

The HUB really is the go-to resource for clinical research at UCSF.
Marlene Berro, MS, RAC

The HUB is a collaborative effort across a number of organizations and administrative units, including UCSF’s Office of Research, the Office of Ethics & Compliance, and CTSI. The site was designed to leverage existing resources and provide new content where readily accessible resources did not previously exist.

“The HUB really is the go-to resource for clinical research at UCSF,” says Marlene Berro, MS, RAC. “By bringing all of the necessary resources and services together in one place, we’re streamlining the information gathering process for investigators and their staff, and making it easier to conduct clinical research.”

The site offers information on trial management, regulatory issues, and training, as well as reference materials on topics ranging from contracts and grants to ethics and compliance.

Users are encouraged to direct comments and suggestions for improvement of the site to [email protected].

The goals of the HUB are to:

  1. Promote excellence in the quality of clinical research management through education;
  2. Facilitate effective and timely clinical research initiation by improving institutional processes and providing clinical research protocol, regulatory, budget, and financial tools;
  3. Increase awareness of clinical trials in the community through education and community participant recruitment outreach activities; and
  4. Interface with institutional/industry partners to support enhanced clinical research practice.
