The CTSI K Scholars Program is pleased to announce the CTSI KL2 Scholars, selected from among 21 applications from highly accomplished junior faculty at UCSF to receive the KL2 Career Development Award beginning July 1, 2012:
- Vivek Jain, MD, MAS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine/HIV/AIDS;
- Joyce Lee, MD, MAS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine/Pulmonary and Critical Care;
- Kirsten Kangaleris, MD, MAS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine/Hospital Medicine;
- Janel Long-Boyle, PharmD, PhD, Assistant Professor, School of Pharmacy, Department of Clinical Pharmacy;
- Catherine Rongey, MD, MSHS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine/Gastroenterology and Hepatology;
- Gabriela Schmajuk, MD, MS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine/Rheumatology;
- Jonathan Singer, MD, MS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine/Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep.
They will be joined by the following scholars who have other K awards, either from NIH or UCSF, who fully participate in the CTSI K Scholars program:
- Maria Chao, Dr.PH, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Medicine/General Internal Medicine (K01, NCCAM);
- Reena Duseja, MD, MS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine (K08, AHRQ);
- Christine Fox, MD, MAS, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Neurology (UCSF K12, Child Neurology);
- Jenise Wong, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics (UCSF K12, Pediatric Endocrinology).
In 2012-13, a total of 56 scholars are in the CTSI K Scholars program, including 23 funded by the CTSI KL2 award and 33 funded by other K awards.
New K Scholar Director
Dr. Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo is the Director of the K Scholars program beginning July 1, 2012. She replaced Dr. Stephen B. Hulley who led the program since 2005. She is joined by Drs. Louise Walter and Ralph Gonzales, Associate Directors.
The K Scholars program is part of CTSI’s Career Development program, and supports junior faculty from all four UCSF schools. Resources include salary support, weekly works-in-progress and methodology seminars, and access to core faculty who provide expertise and guidance in research design, measurement and questionnaire design, study coordination, data management, biostatistical analysis, publishing and presenting research, and manuscript and grant writing.
