Dr. C. William Balke's main responsibilities will include directing the CTSI CRC and serving on the Board of Directors of the CTSI. In 2005, Dr. Balke moved to the University of Kentucky to become Director of the Institute of Molecular Medicine and was subsequently appointed Senior Associate Dean for Research, Associate Provost for Clinical and Translational Science and Director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) The University of Kentucky CCTS is a very large, multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional center similar to the UCSF CTSI, though still seeking support as a CTSA. As Director, Dr. Balke did a superb job, raising $172M over the past few years and organizing a Center that includes 6 health professional schools, multiple University of Kentucky colleges, the University of Kentucky Medical Center, regional hospitals, rural health centers, and multiple local and state government agencies.
