The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at UC San Francisco today announced that Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo, MD, PhD, has been named the new director of the Institute’s Clinical and Translational Science Training (CTST) program.

Dr. Bibbins-Domingo is the Lee Goldman Distinguished Professor of Medicine at UCSF, Co-Director of the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations at San Francisco General Hospital, and current Director of CTSI’s K Scholars Program.

“This is an exciting transition for CTSI,” said Clay Johnston, MD, PhD, CTSI’s director. “Kirsten is a highly-trained clinical researcher who brings a wealth of experience in research and education to this crucial role.”

Bibbins-Domingo is taking over from Deborah Grady, MD, MPH, who led the CTST program for the past eight years.

“Under Deborah’s leadership, CTST expanded to include new didactic courses, a track in the Masters in Clinical Research in Implementation Science, the Masters of Translational Medicine, and training programs at the undergraduate, professional student, residency, fellowship and junior faculty levels,” Johnston said. “Her work has made a significant impact at UCSF, and beyond.”

Deborah will continue in her role as leader of the CTSI Online Learning program, and as a key member of the Institute’s leadership team.

UCSF's CTSI is a member of the Clinical and Translational Science Awards network funded through the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (grant Number UL1 TR000004) at the National Institutes of Health. Under the banner of "Accelerating Research to Improve Health," CTSI provides a wide range of resources and services for researchers, and promotes online collaboration and networking tools such as UCSF Profiles.
