In the spirit of promoting creativity and innovation at UCSF, Information Technology is sponsoring the first IT Innovation Contest to develop quick and creative IT solutions that benefit the University. This team-based contest is open to all UCSF Campus faculty, staff, and students; five winning teams will each be awarded $10,000.
We believe that giving people space and time to explore their creativity can result in magnificent and unexpected results.Elazar Harel, UCSF's Chief Information Officer
"We are launching this experiment because we believe that giving people space and time to explore their creativity can result in magnificent and unexpected results," said Elazar Harel, UCSF's chief information officer, in an email announcement to the UCSF community. "We don't expect that every project chosen will necessarily be successful, but part of this initiative is to take some risks and explore the creativity that is hidden in all of us."
Proposals will be submitted and assessed using an Open Proposal forum, which encourages feedback and comments, proposal improvement, and collaboration. Projects must be implemented by October 1, 2012. Read important information about this Open Proposal opportunity
