UCSF COVID-19 Patient Data for Research is Now Available

As many researchers at UCSF community are looking to conduct research on COVID-19, we would like to let you know of a resource that can help you gain timely access to the UCSF COVID-19 patient data in our electronic health record (APeX).

BCHSI, CTSI and IT partnered to create a ‘blanket IRB’ that enables access to the UCSF EHR COVID-19 Data. With this IRB-approved study, structured data on UCSF COVID-19 tested and diagnosed patients is currently available for computational analysis, and is refreshed on a daily basis. The IRB also includes access to clinical notes for COVID-19 tested and diagnosed patients, and access to comparative/control data for patients not tested for COVID-19; both of these data sets will be available soon.

You can obtain access to the UCSF COVID-19 data mart by joining the IRB-approved COVID-19 collaborative study for prospective and retrospective computational analysis (COVID EHR IRB # 20-30545). We are ready to submit an IRB modification to add Pis and study staff to this already-approved IRB.
