Deanna Sheeley Receives Leadership Award

The Professional Development Council of the UCSF Medical Center Department of Nursing has recognized Deanna Sheeley, RN, as the recipient of the 2013 Excellence in Leadership in Nursing Award. Deanna serves as director of Clinical Research Nursing Resources for the Clinical Research Services (CRS) program of UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).

The annual award honors a nurse who has made an outstanding contribution within the UCSF Medical Center through a professional presence, effectively communicates the vision and mission of professional nursing, demonstrates advocacy and support for patients and staff, and serves as a role model of nursing leadership and demonstrates the ability to share expertise with peers and colleagues.

This is well-deserved recognition for her important work.

“Deanna is a very effective leader who exemplifies the spirit of what an academic medical center is all about: exceptional research, teaching and patient care,” said Lynda Frassetto, MD, medical director at the CRS Moffitt-Adult Clinical Research Site and one of several colleagues who nominated Sheeley for this award. “This is well-deserved recognition for her important work.”

Sheeley will receive the award in the presence of her colleagues at the 2013 Nurses’ Week Awards ceremony held on Thursday, May 9th from 3-5pm in the Millberry Union on UCSF’s Parnassus campus.
