Improved Accelerate Website Provides Rich Resources for Researchers

Accelerate.ucsf.edu: A Single Place for UCSF and Affiliated Investigators to Access CTSI Services, Resources

The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at UC San Francisco has recently upgraded its Accelerate site (accelerate.ucsf.edu), a key online gateway for investigators to access CTSI research services and resources, find funding and training opportunities, and develop skills.

Our great hope is that the upgraded Accelerate site will make it easier for investigators to find what they need to accomplish their goals!

CTSI Web Producer

The Virtual Home (VH) team at CTSI has managed Accelerate since 2007. After years of monitoring site usage, collecting user and staff feedback, the development team tested and implemented critical changes to make the site more seamless with current user behavior and experience standards.

Recent improvements include:

  • Redesigned home page
To better highlight major services; a new Featured Service area is available to promote new or underutilized resources
  • Ability to accommodate smart phones and tablets
Almost 10% of site visitors now use mobile device

  • Search form suggests resources based on user input (similar to Google search)
To help people find needed resources even if they don’t know the exact name

Here’s what Cynthia Piontkowski, lead web producer at CTSI, had to say about the upgrade:

“CTSI has so much to offer to researchers – our great hope is that the upgraded Accelerate site will make it easier for investigators to find what they need to accomplish their goals! The biggest challenge is giving visibility to so many different resources.”
