On Tuesday, February 27, 2013, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors made a proclamation recognizing UCSF Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (IHPS) Day for the Institute’s 40th anniversary and its contributions to the solution of complex and challenging health policy problems.

As part of the proclamation, Supervisor Eric Mar also noted the important contributions of UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and the San Francisco Health Improvement Partnerships (SF HIP), which brings together community and academic expertise to address pressing health problems such as physical activity and nutrition, Hepatitis B, alcohol abuse, and children’s oral health.

CTSI’s Laura Schmidt, PhD, co-director of CTSI’s Community Engagement and Health Policy program was on hand with others from CTSI and IHPS to thank members of the board of supervisors and acknowledge the critical role they play as partners in UCSF’s efforts to improve health in San Francisco.
